jo_anne_stormOn a side note, I woke up with Waylon Jennings' "Good Old Boys" stuck in my head. Planning this entry switched it to Disturbed.
So, I started watching TV again. Which isn't really true. I never STOPPED watching, I just... I haven't been invested. Not really. I enjoy shows and I leave them. I do read fanfic still, but...
(There should be another post at some point about how I am not depressed, but I worry that my lack of words means I am depressed.)
Anyway, I've been watching Hawaii 5-O, some MacGyver, some Magnum, PI. All pretty mindless entertainment. Managed to finish Lucifer. I'm kinda excited to see where Netflix takes that. At some point I will finish watching the Netflix Marvel things.
Last week I didn't want to watch any of those and I remembered the the CW rebooted some shows. They are halfway through the season of Charmed and I'm not going to pay a monthly fee to watch that. But Roswell, New Mexico was just a few episodes in.
Keep in mind that the only thing I knew about this show was that it was an updated version of Roswell. I liked Roswell, though I never finished the final season. Sure, I can watch an ep and see if I like it.
It is NOTHING like the original, in a good way. I've binged the available episodes twice now.
Max and Liz are still... Well, OK, better than the syrupy thing that the original gave us. And I like that Liz isn't falling all over him and trusting his every word. They both have casual sex partners (I thought Max's was Isobel the first watch through, because I was not paying that much attention and the actresses look alike. I was very skeeved.)
I like that Isobel is more mature and less manipulative. I want to know more about her relationship with Noah. How long have they been married? How has she not told him yet? Etc. Right now Noah is still very nebulous as a character.
Maria is the same way. Maria in the original was constantly by Liz's side. Now, she's bartends at the local watering hole and reads fortunes, but that's about all we know about her.
Michael and Alex. Oh, man! Again, I didn't read any reviews or anything beforehand. So that came out of left field for me. But, seriously! Malex is my new obsession. I have been refreshing the AO3 page and logged back into Tumblr after like 3 years.
And Tyler Blackburn, who plays Alex. He sings! And is so fricking adorable. And did a very long Macys ad/webseries that some how does not have any presence in Fandom. I mean, seriously!?!?! How are there not 20k stories about what happens next?
So, yeah... Fandom is my drug. Again.
